Captures Top 2% of Industry Interest for One-of-a-Kind Fossil Marble
-
- Building and design experts’ overwhelming interest in the Fossil Marble Ancient Seabed Collection from Maison Sijilmassa has
turned the Paleozoic-era stone into a “Top 100 Building Products Award” winner, according to Building Products
magazine.
Fossil Marble
captured its top 2% winning position at number 57, out of a total 2,700 items reviewed, after industry trackers and editors at Hanley-Wood Design Group publishers analyzed trends and reader response rate
to develop the most up-to-date decision-makers’ must-have product list. The
collection will be featured along with other winners in the "Top 100 Building Products" special edition of Building
Products magazine, the “what’s hot” product source considered most valuable by professionals.
-
- Fossil
marble was initially reviewed by Hanley-Wood Design Group editors in a "Fine Finishes" column
of Custom Home. The complete collection features five luxurious hues including Hezhra (gray), Kajal (black), Sijilmassa (brown),
Bordeaux (red) and Chocolat (dark brown).

- “Recognition
of our Fossil Marble by the respected industry insiders at Building Products is very rewarding,” says Salem Boudine, President, Maison Sijilmassa.
“Interest levels have continued to increase steadily since we first introduced this material and soon we will be
announcing
details about the first commercial installation in the U.S. as well as increased distribution and availability.”

- About Fossil
Marble
- Fossil
Marble, quarried from an ancient Paleo-Tethys seabed in the Sahara, is characterized by the distinctive, visible and naturally-occurring presence of
fossilized prehistoric marine life forms, known as orthoceras and ammonites, throughout the stone. Within each color, the figures of orthoceras appear as rocket or spaceship-like elongated cylindrical spear shapes.
Ammonites can be identified by their circular nautilus-shaped spiral-esque forms.
Physical and mechanical properties of fossil marble make it a premium selection for commercial or residential interior and exterior
design, building, remodeling and renovation projects where an unforgettable visual effect is desired.

- Additional
Recognition
- In November 2001,
the Fossil Marble Ancient Seabed Collection was recognized as one of the industry's “Hot Stones” by Stone Magazine, the leading trade
publication for specifiers, fabricators and suppliers of dimensional stone. It was one of only five stones selected from around the globe for
inclusion in the annual Hot List distinction.
